African Elephants, What huge and Powerful Animals. They are the Largest land animals on  Planet Earth.Males weigh about 12,000 pounds and stand roughly 10 feet tall at the shoulder. African elephants care for wounded individuals and are unique in that they identify and look after elephant bones.

Elephants are uniquely Important to the African ecosystem, Many plant species are dependent on the Elephants feeding patterns for opening up the canopy for light dependent vegetation and germination and distribution of seeds. During droughts many animals are depending on the Elephants powerful ability to dig for water and opening up water supplies for many other animals
